Sunburst Skiing, Snowboarding and Winter Sports Park

FoSky high in the Halfpipe Final : The Brits 2010 at Laax, Switzerlandr those who embrace winter and snow sports, December through March can be a winter wonderland of fun. A number of area businesses and parks embrace this wintery culture and the hardy people who enjoy these outdoor winter adventures.

Just to the west of Hidden Serenity Bed and Breakfast, between West Bend and Kewaskum, is Sunburst Ski and Winter Sports Park. So whether you are interested in skiing, snowboarding or other winter sports fun, Sunburst offers a variety of downhill winter activities that cater to beginners as well as accomplished winter enthusiasts.

For those who do not wish to ski Sunburst offers the “largest tubing park in the world”. Tubing is very much like sledding, but with an inflatable tube. The quarter mile run at Sunburst drops 100 feet over the course of the run and will bring back happy childhood memories of gliding down the neighborhood sledding hill. It is the perfect outdoor fun event with no experience or equipment needed!

Sunburst also offers both skiing and snowboarding options. For those without their own equipment, they offer a flat rate rental package that is housed in a newly renovated rental building. By streamlining the process of renting equipment, Sunburst prides itself in getting you to the slopes as fast as possible. Minimizing the waiting and maximizing the fun. Enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders with their own equipment have special rates that include just the lift ticket.

Sunburst offers specials that vary from a family learn to ski package to senior and military discounts. Sunburst Ski Area is proud of their attitude of constant improvement and anyone who has lived in the area over the last 25 years has watched their growth and improvement. It is a first rate operation that you are sure to enjoy.

Indulge yourself with a weekend of both excitement and serenity and the best bed and breakfast around!

Enchantment in the Park

As the daylight becomes scarce between Thanksgiving and Christmas it seems like many of us drive to both work and home in the dark. The cure for this pre-winter blues time is found 5 minutes away from Hidden Serenity Bed and Breakfast. Before, or even after, your delicious dinner out, you will not want to miss this gem during the holidays.

Boasting of light displays, music and performing arts, Enchantment in the Park has been in existence since 2009. Enchantment in the Park was founded by four Rotary clubs in Washington County – West Bend Noon, West Bend Sunrise, Hartford and Slinger/Allenton. Then, in 2013, Menomonee Falls Rotary Club was added to the planning committee. After years of lighting up the Washington County Fairgrounds, Enchantment in the Park is now in the City of West Bend in historic Regner Park.

On November 28, 2014 the lights turn on for the holiday season. For 24 bright nights this spectacle will be available for visitors to drive through the tunnel of lights, and with more than 340,000 LED lights it is quite the tunnel. If all the lights were in a straight line, they would extend 23 miles. Fortunately the creative artists who run the display have found a better way use these lights and the 1000+ extension cords used in the display. Local talent is also on hand to entertain people with music fit for the season. Hundreds of volunteers contribute to the festivities with a wide variety of holiday costumes and outfits.

Local entertainment groups join the festivities on different evenings so check the website for more info: http://www.enchantmentpark.org . The park is open from 5-9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and most of the days the two weeks of the holidays. You can drive walk or take a horse-drawn carriage ride through to see the light displays.

Enchantment in the Park does not charge admission, but a suggested donation of $10.00 per car supports the future of Enchantment in the Park. Bring some non-perishable food items to help support local food pantries.
