Shalom Wildlife Zoo is known as Wisconsin’s Wildest Zoo and guess what? It’s just across the street from Hidden Serenity Bed and Breakfast! This zoo is absolutely fantastic and a favorite place to go for our guests. You can spend a couple of hours roaming around the zoo, or a full day if you choose.
Shalom Wildlife Zoo offers 100 acres and the best wildlife viewing in the area, ranked as one of the top attractions in Washington County! There are more than four miles of trails to explore deer, elk, bison, wolves, bears, cougars and a plethora of species of birds and a whole lot more. Depending on when you come to stay at Hidden Serenity Bed and Breakfast, the zoo also has seasonal adventures for all ages.
Beginning as a deer farm with the native whitetail deer, people would come from all other to see these amazingly beautiful creatures and would be educated along the way. Eventually bison and elk were added and then every year more and more species found their home on the 100 acres and is home to over 200 animals that are cared for daily by the owners who have poured their hearts into these animals and the grounds.
This is something you definitely do not want to miss out on as you enjoy your stay with us! Most of our guests visit the zoo while here and come back with stories of feeding some the animals by hand, being amused by the twin bear cubs or witnessing other wild adventures up close. Not one guest has been disappointed.
Fun Wisconsin Fact: The state tree is the Sugar Maple. Interestingly enough, when you stay with us, you will have an opportunity to try some of our fabulous maple syrup made right in our back yard from our own sugar maples! (We are in the process of tapping them as I write this!)
