Hidden Serenity on Discover Wisconsin

The state of Wisconsin welcomes visitors from far and wide with countless yearly travel options. Every year, more and more people are experiencing outdoor Wisconsin, an incomparable paradise for hunters, fishermen and campers. Foodies, wine and beer lovers delight in discovering Wisconsin’s artisan cheese makers, wineries, and breweries, as well as farmers markets and award-winning restaurants. There are so many great places to visit and wonderful accommodations to stay while making new memories with family and friends.

Where there is so much to see and do, it can be overwhelming to begin the planning process of a vacation. Thankfully, there are helpful tourism websites and even TV shows that help highlight some of the “must-see” places here in Wisconsin.

One of the more popular shows is DISCOVER WISCONSIN.

In 1986, Dick Rose created the idea of showcasing Wisconsin’s many great vacation treasures on a television show dedicated to Wisconsin tourism – appropriately named Discover Wisconsin. Discover Wisconsin Television was born in 1987, becoming the first public and private sector partnership under Governor Tommy Thompson’s Administration.

The Discover Wisconsin show is broadcast to a loyal weekly audience throughout the Midwest on a combina

tion of network, cable, and satellite stations. Additionally, through the advent of satellite broadcasting, Discover Wisconsin is regularly viewed on cable stations all around the United States.

With the wide popularity of the TV show, Hidden Serenity Bed & Breakfast was honored to learn that we had been chosen as one of six B&B’s that were going to be showcased in Wisconsin.  A couple of months ago, we had the pleasure of playing host to several production people from Discover Wisconsin that were here to film for the upcoming segment. During their 2-day stay here at Hidden Serenity, the filming crew was able to experience all our B&B had to offer. They got some great footage, as well as some interviews, and we are all excited to see the finished product when it airs in October of this year.

Discover Wisconsin has created a companion website (Discoverwisconsin.com). It has become a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, online tourism resource that coincides with the content of the Television and Radio programs. The purpose of Discoverwisconsin.com is to provide additional information about the destinations they feature and the best the state of Wisconsin has to offer vacationers. The Discoverwisconsin.com site also features a “calendar of events” that gives you a breakdown of things to do in Wisconsin. It is a great reference for fairs, festivals, parades, concerts and tastings that are happening all over Wisconsin. They have an on “online calendar” feature that allows you to browse their Wisconsin calendar of events by month. Once you have found something you are interested in, you can add that event directly to your online calendar so you have it available for future reference.

The Discoverwisconsin.com site has a “Destinations” category that lists all the places they have featured on both TV and radio. They are organized alphabetically by city name and we are excited to soon see Hidden Serenity Bed & Breakfast added to the website. The Discoverwisconsin.com site really has a wealth of information for those traveling in Wisconsin. Check out their “Events” tab to see some of the top draws of WI and when they occur.

Be sure to check your local listings and keep a look out as October approaches to make sure you catch our segment on Discover Wisconsin. We are so honored here at Hidden Serenity Bed & Breakfast to have been chosen as a featured B&B when there are so many quality establishments located here in Wisconsin.

Our thanks go out to the friendly crew from Discover Wisconsin. We know they enjoyed their stay here as much as we enjoyed having them.
