One of Many Groomed ski trails

Bondehytta, Nittedal. Ca. 1918-1920.Cross country skiing is a great activity for winter and we have a few very nice state parks with groomed trails located a short drive from Hidden Serenity Bed and Breakfast.

One of them, Pike Lake State Park, features a challenging course of dedicated, groomed cross country ski trails. With the trails set aside for cross country skiing only and no hiking, the conditions will be excellent after a fresh snowfall.

Pike Lake State Park reserves the area east of Powder Hill Road for cross country skiing. Park employees maintain a trail for traditional cross country skiing and an additional area for skate skiing. This is an excellent feature since it is difficult if the two trails are on the same pathway.

Pike Lake also has winter hiking and snowshoeing areas available in the park.

A Pike Lake State Park tradition is the Candlelight ski and snowshoeing event. The trails are illuminated for the night time and this is a very popular and enjoyable activity. This year the candle light ski and snowshoeing event takes place on Valentine’s Day, February 14th! It is a great romantic, outdoor, activity for the active couple!

Information on the Candlelight ski and snowshoeing event can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/friendsofpikelake

Regardless of the season, Pike Lake State Park has tons of activities available. It is one of the best outdoor resources in our area. Hidden Serenity Bed and Breakfast is an ideal location for anyone wishing to take advantage of the trails in the area state parks. Enjoy a hot gourmet breakfast in the morning before heading out and come back to the glow of the fire in your own room. Equipment rental is nearby if you don’t have your own. Let’s just say we have all the bases covered!
