Wintertime in Southeastern Wisconsin’s West Bend is a time where you can engage in some fun activities you certainly can’t do in summer. One of these opportunities is about 5 minutes away from Hidden Serenity Bed and Breakfast. Regner Park serves the City of West Bend in many capacities. Most recently the Enchantment in the Park light show was taking place. In summer there is a fine swimming pond and in the cold of winter a fine skating pond.
Outdoor skating offers an ambiance that is not present when skating inside. Especially on a starry night in the setting of a great park. Regner Park ice skating is available whenever a person wants to ice skate, however, it is best during the hours when the “warming house” is open. Thursday and Friday evenings twilight/early nighttime hours are available from 5:00-9:00PM. For Saturday and Sunday longer hours, from Noon to 9:00 PM the warming house is open. During the local school’s breaks extended hours are also available.
While there are no skate rentals, there is also no fee associated with skating at Regner Park. If you have your own skates, it is a great activity and opportunity to get outside and get moving in the winter. Hockey nets are available for free when the warming house is open and there are nice shops and restaurants nearby in downtown West Bend. Toucan Custard is always at treat in any kind of weather.
Regner Park is conveniently found by driving South on Highway 144 from Shalom Drive, into Barton/West Bend and then to Park Street. There are two entrances to the park on Park Street and it works best to take the 2nd entrance to access the warming house area.
The peaceful, nostalgic fun of skating on a pond goes hand in hand with a cozy stay at Hidden Serenity Bed and Breakfast enjoy the luxury bed at one of the best bed and breakfasts north of Milwaukee. Come enjoy the wonders of winter at Hidden Serenity and enjoy some ice skating while you are here!
